History of the team
Very often called NIP, Ninjas in Pyjamas has already 20 years of existence in the world of e-sports. Indeed, one year after their creation in 2000, they aligned their very first competitive team on Counter-Strike. They had their first success on this scene after a hard-fought final against the X3 team. In the following years they had some difficulties in the organization, the most recurrent of which were sponsoring problems, frequent name changes and player composition. So, under the banner of this organization, they present themselves again on the CS-GO scene under the names of SK Scandinavia and SK Sweden. They piled up several successes on this scene and became a force to be reckoned with in the professional CS:GO scene in the years 2003. In early 2005, they decided to break their contract with SK Gaming. Despite this breach of contract, some of the team's players rejoined the organization, much to the surprise of other team members. From that moment on, new problems arose and the team sank into anonymity for several years before being dissolved in 2007.
After several years of silence, the Ninjas In Pyjamas announced their return to CS: GO in 2012. At that time, the organization underwent extensive reforms and is now under new ownership. During that year, they won all the competitions organized in LAN except for one that they could not participate in. They then finished as the best team of the year 2012 at the world level.
In June 2014, the PINS suffered a real setback when they were eliminated in the semi-finals of the Lower Bracket Season 16. This was the first time in years that the Swedish team did not finish in the top 4 of a CS: GO LAN competition; what a disappointment! On August 17, 2014, the PINs won the ESL One Cologne tournament on CS: GO with nearly $100,000 in prize money. In 2015, the organization expanded to the Dota 2 division. They lost the quarterfinals of the year's ESL One Cologne; ending a streak of five consecutive Majors tournament finals appearances.
