Team SoloMid is a North American eSports team that was created in 2009 under the impetus of the SoloMid.net website community, which was run by brothers Andy Dinh and Dan Dinh, two internationally known trolls. It is only two years later, in early 2011, that Team SoloMid was noticed in competition, during Season 1 of the Riot Championship. Today, Team SoloMid is a very complete team, which is why we're taking a closer look at its rise and the reasons for its success, which, as you'll soon see, are obvious.

Andy "Reginald" Dinh's crazy bet

While already part of an eSport Team, All or Nothing - which was unfortunately disbanded - Andy "Reginald" Dinh decided to continue his e-athlete career by starting a new team directly from his website SoloMid.net. His original roster consisted of the following: Saintvicious, Reginald, Chaox, TheOddOne, and Locodoco. However, one of them, Saintvicious, left Team SoloMid shortly after its creation to join Counter Logic Gaming. In the following years, Team SoloMid recruited new players. No less than seven new players joined the ranks of the main team we know today.

These days, the team is competing in virtually every league and championship around League of Legends, Apex Legends, Hearthstone, Super Smash Bros, PUBG, Fortnite, Rocket League and many others. Note that a sub-division of Team SoloMid based in Denmark has long operated alone on Overwatch and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive games. Team SoloMid's most successful and influential team is the one that competes in League of Legends, with no less than six North American LCS titles in the ten seasons it has run to date.

A training center worthy of the greatest sports clubs

What started out as a simple website has become a gigantic eSport structure. This rise is confirmed by the construction of a brand new training center in the image of Team SoloMid, which will be built in February 2020. Team SoloMid is particularly proud of this ambitious project: built in Playa Vista, one of the most popular areas of Los Angeles, the Team SoloMid training center will cost a whopping 13 million US dollars. It will be home to all TSM players, whether they play on the virtual battlegrounds of League of Legends, Fortnite, PUBG or Rocket League. Inside the gigantic building, there will be studios, steaming rooms, game rooms and a fitness center.

Designed to train high-level e-athletes, the Team SoloMid training center will in fact be modeled after facilities such as the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA, the idea being to develop a safe and secure environment for e-sports players. Of course, for Team SoloMid, there is another unsuspected challenge: to maintain its leadership position for the next ten to twenty years. To do this, it is important to give TMS e-athletes the same infrastructure and technical means as any internationally renowned sports club. When you know that Team SoloMid members will have personalized coaches, a gym and even a full-time sports psychologist, you can see that the line between traditional sports and eSports is very thin!
