Qualification for EMI

There are usually two ways to qualify for an IEM event through online qualification or invitation. Qualification for a StarCraft II for example depends mainly on the rules of the official Blizzard website while Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is mainly based on inviting teams according to their form as well as the results of recent tournaments.

The sanctions

Major Sanctions: these are related to major incidents such as not showing up for a match or repeatedly violating the rules. Each major incident will result in a 10% reduction of the total prize money for the competition concerned.
Monetary sanctions: monetary sanctions are given for breaches of obligations that are not directly related to the competition.
Disqualification: it is the highest sanction. It is used for very important mistakes. The participant concerned is banned and loses all his prize money during the competition and is banned until the end of the competition. If it is a team, the organization and all its members are banned until the end of the competition.
